This page provides an overview of how our application process works. If you have questions or would like assistance, please feel free to contact us via email at info@nebulashift.com.
The Nebula Shift application process is generally initiated twice a year: winter and summer. Once the evaluation process is complete, notifications will be provided regarding status of the application. Once accepted, the formal program begins. The first application period begins on January 15, 2010.
We are focused primarily on software and ideas for new software. We do not require anything more than the application. Business plans and experience are not critical to securing acceptance. We are the experts in software as well as the experts in business. Nebula Shift helps accepted concepts to become concrete business.
Flexibility and the ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment are the keys to fitting in with the Nebula Shift environment. Technology is an ever-changing business and we look for those individuals with the skill to quickly evolve. Remember, revenue is critical; without revenue we cannot continue to invest.
Profit is important but equally important is finding socially responsible individuals that are intent on developing sustainable companies. Giving back to the environment and assisting in the development of a high quality of life for employees and the communities where business occurs is all a part of the evaluation process.
Applications are submitted online via this site as early as possible during the dates provided above in order to give the company ample time to review the information. Remember, those submitting applications early in the application process are considered first and allow the company more time to consider the concept.
Any expenses incurred during discussions previous to the group acceptance date will not be reimbursed. This includes telephone conversations, any travel to the Boise, ID area, etc....

Nebula Shift will determine whether your idea or company will be accepted into the Nebula Shift umbrella during the evaluation period. Nebula Shift will also evaluate whether to make investments of $6,800 for 1-2 founders, $8,500 where the number of participating founders is 3 or more (up to 4)) in return for between 7% and 15% of the company. The average is between 8% and 12%.
Upon acceptance into the Nebular Shift program the founders, along with Nebula Shift, will begin the paperwork necessary to incorporate the business.
During the set-up period (between 90 and 120 days), accepted groups are required to be located in the Boise area. After the set-up period has closed, groups may leave the area.
However, Boise has been voted one of the top ten cities in America to live. And some of the most prestigious technology companies are here. (Microsoft, Micron and Hewlett-Packard, for example.) (For more information regarding Boise, go to "About Us.")
Space can be provided during the set-upg period. However, after the period ends, companies are to determine a permanent location and set up shop. We encourage these companies to continue within our area.
During the set-up period, seminars will be provided with expert speakers to assist groups in understanding more and more regarding the business of starting a business.
Also, during this period, groups will be introduced to other potential investors that may assist in later stage company development.
After the set-up period Nebula Shift will continue to support these new companies by providing advice inclusive of working with investors, introductions to individuals of influence or other Nebula Shift funded startups.
Periodically, Nebula Shift will also provide invitations to events in our Boise office.
